DIY Disney Pin Purse

When looking for a way to style my pins beyond the standard denim jacket, I stumbled on a post where a blogger had used a purse that had perforations in the fabric to add her pins to the front. Genius! Only problem is that I’m pretty picky about purses and all of the ones I found either weren’t the right shape or color for my style. Naturally, I set out to make my own. Read on for instructions to make your very own DIY Disney Pin Purse.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Purse Without a Lining. Mine is old, but I found a few options that could work here (so many colors!) and here (you could put the holes on the outside pocket, so cute!)

  • Leather Punch Set

  • Graph Paper

  • Tape

  • Hammer or Wooden Mallet

STEP ONE:

With a pencil or pen that doesn’t bleed, mark out on the graph paper where you want to punch the holes. Place a scrap of wood inside the bag to have a hard surface to hammer into. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP. I tried using a book and it did not work. Learn from my mistake and save yourself some frustration.

STEP TWO:

Using the 1/8″ leather punch, start hammering out each dot. I actually ended up revising my pattern after the first punch and spaced the dots out more, which you can see in the photo above. After all was said and done, I think it would’ve been fine either way. After every dot has been punched, remove the graph paper and marvel at your new vehicle for Disney pin goodness wherever you go!

I was a little worried about the pins falling off all day because the backs were just the standard rubber Mickey ears. I have some locking pins backs on the way, so hopefully that will give me peace of mind for my everyday wear! Don’t forget to tag me in your photos if you decide to DIY your own Disney pin purse. I would love to see how yours turns out!
