McCalls 7563 – Cheetah Print Dress

I spotted this muted cheetah print hidden in the linens section of Salvation Army and immediately knew McCalls 7563 (Dress, View C) would be perfect. I’ve said it before, but the linens section of your local thrift store can be a great place to shop for fabric!

This dress came together very quickly. I made this pattern a few years ago and, as a result, my second try was much easier. Unlike last time, I decided to keep the full sleeve length. Overall I think the longer sleeve length works for this fabric but a shorter sleeve length would get more mileage in my closet (hellooooo Florida heat!)

McCalls 7563 Pattern Information and Modifications:

PATTERN: McCalls 7563, View C – you can buy it here.
FABRIC: 100% Cotton (thrifted!)
MODIFICATIONS: I shortened the hemline a few inches and omitted the straps. I also used french seams to finish off the inside of the garment (without adding any seam allowances to the pattern, oops!) which did make the dress a tad bit snug where the sleeves meet the bodice. Just keep that in mind if you also want to use french seams.

Outfit Details:

DRESS: Made By Me!
SNEAKERS: Nordstrom Rack (old)

I hope you’re inspired to browse the thrift store for your next sewing project. You never know what you might find!
