Simplicity 8606 – Vintage Floral Skirt

I spotted this vintage sheet almost immediately after walking into Salvation Army! The bright yellow florals just scream summer   My first thought was to make a dress but then I remembered the maxi skirt (View B) from Simplicity 8606 and how much I love wearing a similar style already in my wardrobe. I do have a bit of fabric leftover, so I might have to make a matching top in the future!

A few things to note about this pattern. Hemming the skirt flounce is not for the faint of heart. It took a very long time to complete, but I’m glad I didn’t rush through it. If you aren’t in the mood to add a button hole to the waist band (I wasn’t!) you can skip that step and the wrap still functions perfectly well.
